Picked up a Taxi machine today. It’s in reasonable condition – certainly not a museum showpiece, but it plays fast and it plays good. Taxi was released by Williams in the summer of 1988, and was designed by Mark Ritchie (the brother of Steve Ritchie, the designer of my other machine – Star Trek The Next Generation!).
I first played Taxi as a video game simulation in “Pinball Hall of Fame – the Williams Collection”. Loved it right away and it was one of my favorites of all the tables in the game. I was really excited when I found one in real life at a local pizza place, and of course it was even better than the simulation. Loved playing it so much I asked if I could buy it, and the owner was willing to part with it. So now, after what appears to be 23 years of off and on service as a revenue earner, this particular copy is officially retired and in my home collection.
